#YearofMiyazaki and The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness

If you guys haven't been able to tell already, I like to have multiple projects going at the same time. It keeps life interesting and I can honestly say I don't remember the last time I actually felt bored or like I had nothing to do.

A new project I'm starting this year over on my YouTube channel is my Year of Miyazaki (#yearofmiyazaki). I have been a fan of Studio Ghibli films since I was a kid; in fact, I think it's safe to say that Studio Ghibli played an even bigger role in my young life than Disney movies did. With #yearofmiyazaki I'm attempting to watch all of Studio Ghibli's full length films in 2015. I'll be working my way through the list above and have decided to just pull names out of a jar because I was finding it too difficult to pick which order I was going to watch them in. I just recently decided that I'd like to get as many people involved as possible, and so I'll be posting the discussion videos here on the blog as well!

A couple of weeks ago, I decided to kick off the project by watching the 2014 documentary The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness. It's an absolutely beautiful and fascinating documentary that I have to admit I've actually watched more than once by this point.

In case you'd like to do the project with me, I'll be watching Kiki's Delivery Service next!

My Artwork on Redbubble

I have yet to really talk about this here on the blog, but I really, really love making art. I've taken as many art classes as possible over the years and really like playing with different mediums. Although I definitely don't have as much time to spend on drawing and sketching as I used to (hence my resolution to try and do one project a month), it's still something that I try to make some time for and that really helps pick me up after a hard couple of days.

I also wanted to mention that I have a Redbubble page, on which you can see some of my favorite work and purchase it on various products. Obviously, you don't have to purchase anything, but I just thought I would share as I have been asked in the past whether or not people can get prints of some of my work. I update whenever I've done a new drawing that I think is worth sharing and you can always see my two most recent designs in the sidebar of this blog.

Do you guys have any favorite hobbies that never fail to make your day a little bit better?

UPDATE: Exciting news! Redbubble is currently having a sitewide 20% off sale! It's running today, March 12th, 2015 until 8 p.m. PST. All you need to do is use the code TWELVES at checkout. Enjoy peeking around the site!

Back to the Bay [Spring Break 2015]

Last week, I was lucky enough to head back to San Francisco for the majority of my spring break. It was a really relaxed trip during which I got to see my best friend for the first time since moving to SoCal in August and tried to spend as much time with family as possible. I was really surprised to find myself reflecting a lot over the course of the trip as well. I got to visit a lot of places throughout the city that played a really big role in my life as an undergrad living away from home for the first time, and the whole trip just really made me realize how much I've grown in the past four and a half years.

I didn't end up taking that many pictures, but I did happen to vlog bits and pieces of the trip!
